These sessions are designed to help you develop your skills and understanding further in the world of animals, animal care and Biology. Each session delves into topics which will help you progress to a future career working with animals. We recommend that you book all 5 sessions to get the full benefit from the program. WEEK 1 focuses on Classifications, the 5 Welfare Needs of animals and the origin of domestication. WEEK 2 is all about the different diets, nutrition and supplements that different animals need. We will also be covering different types of enrichment and why it is important. WEEK 3 covers the importance of correct enclosures, enclosure design and the different requirements for different animals. Substrates, sizes, temperatures and safety measures. The habitats in the wild for these animals will also be covered. WEEK 4 is all about animal health and the warning signs for ill health. Learn how to carry out professional level health checks, learn to spot signs of illness, understand treatments and management. WEEK 5 is about understanding the correct methods of handling and restraint of different types of animals. Learn about restraint equipment and how to use it safely. Understanding animal behaviour and training techniques for different animals. You will meet a selection of different animals at each session, with plenty of time for interactions and handling. Our Animal Handlers have a wealth of knowledge and experience of working within the Animal Care sector, and would love to share it with you. Each session is 1 hour 20 minutes and is held at Cannock Library Manor Ave WS11 1AA Parents/ carers must stay with children Younger or older siblings are welcome to attend the sessions with a full paying child, however the activities are aimed at the age range for the session. Younger siblings will not be allowed to participate in some activities due to safety.
